Banned Hashtags on Instagram

 In Blog

Banned hashtags are hashtags reported by Instagram users for violating the Instagram Community Guidelines. Using them will affect the visibility of your post. Continuous use can result in your account being shadowbanned or suspended.

Why does Instagram Limit Certain hashtags?

Hashtags are restricted if users report them. This often happens when certain accounts use popular hashtags to have their unrelated or inappropriate content seen. They are also banned if the posts they are attached to violate the Instagram content rules.

Banned hashtag

You can check if a hashtag is banned by searching it on Instagram. They will always have ‘recent posts for #hashtagname are hidden because some posts may not follow Instagram’s Community Guidelines’ written on their feed page.

The banned hashtags are always changing, but here is a complete list of all of the main hashtags you need to avoid.

It can be difficult for those working in the modelling, beauty or even gloves industry since hashtags relating to these industries are banned. However, making slight adjustments such as adding or removing an ‘s’ can make all the difference. For example, #gloves is blocked but #glove isn’t, meaning it can be used.

If you are still unsure which tags you can use, you can manually search them on Instagram to see if they are restricted. Or, you can use apps and online tools to check for you. An example of a great, free tool is IQ Hashtags.
